For Him

Let us not rush this moment

I am learning how to stay

how to offer my time

without asking it back

how to hold

the quiet of you

in my arms

For Her

Let me learn your breathing

before the day

remembers our names

before morning

asks us to be anything

but here

I asked the sun

to rise without us

the world can wait

 For Calm

Be the calm to your own storm

Be a comfort

But never a comfort zone

Great things

can never happen

In the comfort zone

Surround yourself

With the ones you call home

Home is where the heart is

But it’s also where your art lives

For a Boost of Encouragement

Know that

You are never a stand in

You’re the real thing

Let authenticity

be the salt of your life

Healing will take place

In your still waters

And your success

Will come in waves

For Focus

And this time

You have

listened

To your

creative mind

Gave Birth

To an idea

Another great

find

You chose not

the graveyard Where most

creativity unfortunately

lies

With eyes on

the prize

You’ve let it

take flight

For Balance

Stay true

as the small

rock underneath the

large one

The one that often gets missed

The one that’s unseen

to the ordinary eye

The one that feet

may never

grace for support

while crossing

the river

but If it was to be moved

It may very well

disrupt the flow

For Change & Bloom

Yes I’ve changed

Time for you to

get to know me

all over again

Time for you to taste the nectar

From this

brand new

flower again

Time to get to

know

this new

currency of

confidence

I now spend

Yes I’ve changed

For Rest

Whatever you're carrying today
that guilt, that weight, that worry

Put it down
Let the ground hold it

Let your ancestors hold it

Rest it on the shoulders of those before you

They didn’t wrap themselves in heavy for nothing

And love, do not make plans to hold the weight of those around you

Or those who come after you

Teach them to put it down

Teach them to let it go

How else will our generations learn softness?

Teach them that Rest is not a reward
It’s not a treat
It’s their birthright
It's their body whispering
“Let me catch you.”

It's a mama’s voice at 1 pm on a Saturday afternoon

“I’m taking ah Five, do not wake me up!”

Hey Love, the world will spin
whether or not you check that last box
Put the weight down
Not everything needs to be held right now

Unless it’s your heart or your son.
